Stone Bay Residential School – Waking Hours Curriculum
Residential Education at Stone Bay School focuses on a fully inclusive Waking Hours Curriculum for our students. Our aim is always to provide the highest possible quality of care that we feel our children and young people deserve and give them the opportunities to develop both socially and emotionally via our highly individualised residential education curriculum.
We provide 24 hour support for all our students and the learning opportunities are not just limited to the classrooms. We offer a well structured Waking Hours Curriculum. The activities offered to our students are listed below.
Residential activities take place at the end of the school day for boarding students.
We offer unit based activities which are designed to help each young person develop their own independent living and social skills. These include meal preparation, laying the table and keeping their bedrooms and communal areas clean and tidy.
A wide range of activities are offered within the school environs such as sport, crazy golf, Jacuzzi sessions, sensory room sessions, IT time, art and craft opportunities and many more depending upon the seasons and weather.
Out of school, our students access coastal walks and we have our own beach hut on Stone Bay beach which is well used for after school picnics.
We also access visits to the cinema, boating trips, visits to English Heritage sites, local zoos and wildlife centres and many other options.
As we are a Healthy School we offer activities such as Zumba, indoor golf and soft play at a nearby centre in Margate.
All our residential students have detailed Individual Care Plans, Individual Health Care Plans as well as Individual Behaviour Support Plans and Risk Assessments (if required). These documents help us to ensure that we are working together for the most consistent approach.
